Don't Get Scammed; Check Pest Control Credentials
Desperation is driving some people in northern New Jersey and other parts of the country to take drastic steps to try to rid their homes of blood-sucking bed bugs. In their rush to rid their homes of bed bugs and other pests, homeowners who fail to investigate the credentials of the pest control company they hire could be exposing their families to dangerous risk.
In Massachusetts this week, a man posing as a pest control professional was arrested and charged with using hazardous agricultural pesticides to treat bed bugs. Pawning himself off as a licensed pest control agent, the man sprayed homes with pesticides malathion and carbaryl, both banned for indoor use. Investigators said the man had repeatedly failed Massachusetts’ state certification test for pesticide applicators.
