Carpenter bees have a fairly set schedule in New Jersey. These pests do not live in hives or big colonies. They tend to go it alone with a queen and some males looking for soft or unpainted wood to dig into. This will usually occurs in the late spring and early summer.

Carpenter bees can cause serious headaches for New Jersey homeowners if they are near a door or have set up shop in your deck. They do not keep tunneling and growing the nest which makes them less harmful than the carpenter ant but they can do damage in the nest is not eliminated. Their life cycle can make August and September a good time to call a New Jersey pest control professional in if you have seen them around earlier this summer.

Carpenter bees queens lay eggs that hatch in August. You may see the young bees around looking for pollen. These pests are not real hard workers like the termite or carpenter ant because tunneling in the wood is hard on the queen. These bees like to find old nests to use instead of building new ones.

You should not be fooled into thinking the winter will kill carpenter bees off so you won’t see them next year. The small carpenter bees you see in August and September may very well be the larger ones that take up residence in your eaves or deck see next spring. A New Jersey pest control professional can eliminate these pests before that happens. When you see carpenter bees around your home you need to enlist the help of a New Jersey pest control pro to minimize possible damage and prevent future infestations.
